Many Tolkien fans (myself included) have invested the best part of our lives, and boundless energy and love into his work. I'm personally hoping to study his writing (alongside that of some others) for a career. So watching a film being put together is a nerve-wracking experience. There's a lot of anxiety surrounding the making of the films. My heart jumps into my mouth every time something new is released. I fear every moment for evidence that it's all going to be horrible, horrible.
