What's Next for Monaghan and Boyd?
Hobbit duo might break out the scuba gear.

January 13, 2003 - Those hobbit fellows have themselves a comedy in development, they've written it and they're trying to get it off the ground – that's the news from one-half of the duo, Dominic Monaghan. While The Two Towers hits mithril at the box office, Monaghan and Boyd are putting in time on a new draft of their yet-to-be-titled comedy. We asked Monaghan about his future, the chance to again perform with Billy Boyd and the duo's comedy project which he describes as: "Funnier than a penguin playing a banjo."

"I've been deemed unemployable by the Hollywood industry over the past year," joked Monaghan. "I've been reading scripts and stuff, but, you know, I'm kind of in that position where financially I can wait, and, you know, the next couple of choices I'm going to make are going to be pretty important. So I'm just waiting. It's frustrating as an actor because I want to work, but I don't want to be involved in the next s**t horror film."

On the other hand, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has a zombie film in the works, and if the opportunity arose to become involved, Monaghan said he would certainly say yes. "I'd love to do anything for Peter Jackson. He's good with zombie movies, isn't he? He loves it," said Monaghan. "Meet the Feebles that's my favorite Peter Jackson movie. It's just so f***ing crazy."

What about sharing the screen again with Boyd? "It's something, you know, where you don't meet that many people in your life, in your career, that you really want to work with and that you kind of have that slightly telepathic understanding of what they're going to say next," said Monaghan. "With Bill and I, we kind of feel that way. We're hoping at some point that we can find a vehicle that would do that."
