Я тут по английски написала (с русским у меня еще хуже)...
The Lament of the Stones
“Deep they delved us, fair they wrought us, high the builded us; but they are gone.”
Do you remember, beauty rose,
Those, which were here so long ago?
You’re new each year, how could you know?
Since many times the rivers froze…
Your petals are as crimson lace,
Your perfume sweet - and yet
Creations fairer we have met,
In soul as well as face.
Do you remember, tall old trees?
Thick, ancient, wise you are.
You boast you lived before the stars,
Then them you must have seen!
But you know not their quick light step,
Nor long and slender hands.
Time’s wind has scattered all the sands,
Memories, for which we long have wept.
Do you remember, fresh green grass?
We can but wish you did!
Of evil everything they rid,
But they are gone… Alas! -
Those golden days, now the forgotten past,
When they were here that loved all nature well.
To ‘tis only fairy-tales we tell.
To us - a memory that will last.
