Мне иногда кажется, что те, старые эльфы начала истории (навроде феанорингов) и могли убивать из корысти, все-таки молодость мира и все такое прочее... Там они похожи на людей. А эльфы третьей эпохи выросли и перестали быть подверженными таким "человеческим слабостям", хотя что-то, конечно же, и осталось..
