Cars, Rap and Girls Spell Fun for Stars
By Ben English in London

DRACO Malfoy drives a BMW, Harry Potter is mad keen on Jane’s Addiction and Hermione is into break dancing.

They’re growing up fast at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

On the set of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – the third movie in the series – the stars yesterday showed how much they had matured in three years since filming the J.K. Rowling bestsellers started.

“I love my cars,” says Tom Felton, who plays Draco. “ I’ve got a black BMW 316 Estate for my training car while I’m 16 and I’m looking at getting a 1.8 sports coupe for my first proper car.”

Draped in a gold necklace and matching bracelets, with his hip polo shirt and trainers, Tom looks more like a street rapper than the resident bully at Hogwarts. He’s looking forward to meeting some of the girls from around the world who send him a sack of fan mail a month.

No less sophisticated is Daniel Radcliffe, aka Harry. At 14, one of his favourite movies is the raunchy R-rated Y Tu Mama Tambien that Alfonso Cuaron made before he took over directing duties at Hogwarts.

An indie and pop music buff, Daniel names Jane’s Addiction, the Libertines and Rage Against the Machine among his top bands.

Rupert Grint, 15, who plays Ron Weasley, is a crack pool player – he has a table in his dressing room – who has just taken up golf.

Emma Watson, who plays Hermione, loves dancing: “While I’m here at the film studio, I have dance lessons … modern, street, body popping, break dancing,” she says. “Back home I just hang out with my friends.”

At 13, Emma also is thrilled to no longer be the shortest of the three leads – that honour goes to Daniel.
