Об отношении Тингола к Альянсу Маэдроса: «From Doriath came little help. Прошу прощения за чрезмерно длинную цитату, но она имеет огромную важность: во-первых, в том, что Тингол не пошёл на Пятую Битву виноваты сами Феаноринги (причём не все, а лично Келегорм с Куруфином, которых Тингол по понятным причинам и так любил меньше всех братьев). Во-вторых, если бы не они, он, возможно, даже отдал бы Сильмариль (см. выделение). Так что не надо обвинять Тингола в том, в чём виноваты сами дети Феанора. И это два.
Об отношениях Феанорингов к Сильмарилям. Странные они были, очень странные. Вот вам цитатка: «Now Fingolfin, King of the North, and High-king of the Noldor, seeing that his folk were become numerous and strong, and that the Men allied to them were many and valiant, pondered once more an assault upon Angband…But because the land was fair and their kingdoms wide, most of the Noldor were grown content with things as they were, trusting them to last. Therefore they were little disposed to hearken to Fingolfin, and the sons of Feanor at that time least of all.» (op. cit. chapt. 11). Итак, Финголфин предлагает атаковать Ангбанд, в принципе, давая возможность (хотя бы надежду) отобрать Сильмарили. Феаноринги отказываются, чтобы не сказать грубее. А вот как только Сильмариль оказывается у более слабого противника, а именно Диора, они реагируют очень даже быстро. Возможность вызвать на поединок Моргота, или хотя бы предпринять ещё одну попытку атаки на него у Феанорингов была, но не была использована. На что их очень хорошо хватило – справиться с внуком Тингола и его народом, убить Нимлот и её сыновей. Очень храброе, похвальное, благородное и безукоризненно честное поведение, нечего сказать…
