Contactmusic is the same source that wrote about the "feud" between Andy and
Elijah over both getting copies of the Ring. Those of us who saw the
original interview they took that from-- Dom on Sharon Osbourne-- know very
well there was no such thing. One other reason to know it's a fake? Elijah
was never with Mandy Moore. Ever. Less than a week after that story got
started (based on them going to a hockey game together-- as friends) Mandy
denied that herself on her official site.
There are a lot of "news" services like this that supply low-level teen and
celeb magazines, etc. but they don't have actual interviews. What they do is
hire "research writers" to go find other interviews in other sources and
then re-hash them-- including mangling quotes-- to make them sound new, and
usually more exciting than the original. If the original source they got the
quotes from is some German magazine, the likelihood of those quotes being
real goes down even further (German, Dutch and Belgian celeb magazines are
the absolute worst for making up interviews.)
Incidentally, while we're on this subject, there's another blurb going
around about Elijah making out with some chick in a bar in LA. That one is
also a fake-- verified as such, too. The source it's supposed to be from has
no such item.
There's been an excellent example of how the media re-hashes stuff going
around lately-- that BBC radio interview Elijah did. If you notice, there
have been a good dozen or so "news" blurbs which have come out of that
interview, mostly about him subbing for one of their DJ's in the future.
Nearly all of the blurbs have mangled the actual quotes in the interview,
and some have even gotten some of the surrounding details wrong. It's case
in point of how you really can't trust most of what you read in print.
The usual rules about media apply: If you don't see it as a direct quote
from a first-person interview in a very high-level English language
publication, or a video or audio interview, don't buy it as real.
