Понимать - это одно, а оправдывать - совсем другое. Я вот, например, понимаю Моргота, мне понятны(или мне кажется, что понятны) мотивы его поступков. Оправдываю ли я его? Нет, он для меня остается тираном, чудовищем и вообще Черным Врагом. То же и с Маэглином.
