Толкиеновский текст, ссылку на который так вовремя дал нам KG (aka Archer), говорит, что камень на груди Эарендила и Elessar, the Elfstone, т.е. камень Арагорна - это один и тот же камень работы Эрендила.

Судя по всему, бериллом (и изумрудом) он назван благодаря сходству по цвету, едва ли рукотворные камни изготовлялись на основе натуральных. Интересно было бы узнать поподробнее, впрочем.
