Talvinen, да, многие имена звучат "не так". Это относится, в первую очередь, к именам гномов и хоббитов - подавляющее большинство известных нам из ВК людей носили имена на синдарине (в том числе, и Арагорн). Исключением являются Рохиррим и их предки, жители Рованиона (имена первых "переведены" с их диалекта Вестрона на древнеанглийский, а вторых - на готский).
