Я так понимаю, что Братство не пошло по тому туннелю, по которому прошли Бильбо и гномы (который действительно находился к северу от Ривенделла) по той причине, что тайная дверь в стене пещеры открывалась только _изнутри_, а не снаружи. Поэтому, даже если бы Братству удалось её найти (Гэндальф, быть может, вспомнил бы, в какой стене открывался проход), открыть её они не смогли бы.
