Кстати, и Саурон делал нечто подобное. Имею в виду Великую Чуму 1636 г. Т.Э. С одной стороны, Саурон вроде как и не при чём (врагов Гондора эпидемия тоже коснулась), с другой - уж очень избирательно Чума ударила. Плюс, сама формулировка почти та же, что и в процитированном отрывке из UT: "Soon after a deadly plague came with dark winds out of the East."
