По моему, "худшее, что случалось с Торином в его жизни", это утрата логики.

Can you tell us about the Elves who capture Thorin and his Company in Mirkwood? What are Thorin’s feelings towards the Elves?
RA: It’s Thorin’s worst nightmare. I mean, Elves and Dwarves have always been antagonistic towards each other.
They were in a war - but this is a personal matter. When Dwarves were annihilated and forced to leave the Mountain and go into exile,
Thorin looked at Thranduil almost begging for help. And Thranduil turned his back to all of them, denying any help,
forcing them to wander across Middle-earth as vagabonds and then build a new life in the Blue Mountains. I don’t think Thorin was able to forget that. Being captured, brought in front of Thranduil and locked in prison
is the lowest point in Thorin’s life. But before being imprisoned he has the opportunity to voice his resentment towards Thranduil. He says: “This is what you did to my people. This is the reason of the antagonism between us and the reason why I will never forgive you”. There is a feeling of satisfaction in being able to tell all of this, but in spite of everything, Thranduil will stop them and they won’t be able to continue their journey because they will be locked in the vaults – where they will accidentally discover that the locks were designed and built by Dwarves, and therefore they know they won’t be able to get out.
ППЦ. Просто ППЦ.
Жирным мои выделения. Очень логично все.
Не знаю, на совести это сценаристов или Армитажа...
